LSU 3B Christian Ibarra and Signee Parker Bugg Taken in Late Rounds of the MLB Draft

LSU third baseman Christian Ibarra got his draft call Saturday. The Pittsburgh Pirates picked the junior in the 32nd round, likely too late to lure him away.

A junior-college transfer from Rio Hondo College, Ibarra has been a surprise for the Tigers. He has been a mainstay at the hot corner and is batting .321 - this is the first time his average has dipped under .325 since the SEC season began.

Ibarra is tied for the team lead with 17 doubles and has also slammed 6 home runs and driven in 39 runs.

Another LSU signee went in the 34th round: Right-handed pitcher Parker Bugg from the San Diego area.

A slender 6-foot-6, 200-pounder, Bugg  was 5-1 this spring at Santo Bernado High, with a 0.90 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 7 walks in 39 innings. He didn't appear in a game after April 11.
